The member representing Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna (IJN), on Thursday engaged key stakeholders of Bassa Local Government Area, presenting his midterm scorecard after two and a half years in office and formally declaring his intention to contest in the 2027 general elections.
The event, held at the Bassa LGA Secretariat, witnessed a large turnout of party faithful, community leaders, and government officials. Among those in attendance were the Bassa LGA Chairman, Hon. Theophilus Adams; the Kogi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Muhammad Muktar; political appointees at both state and local levels; councillors representing all ten wards; as well as APC stakeholders, youth groups, and women representatives.
In his address, Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna highlighted key achievements recorded during his tenure, reaffirming his commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents. He explained that his decision to seek re-election in 2027 is driven by a desire to consolidate on the progress made and to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency.
I am motivated to run again in order to build on the foundation we have laid and to continue the good work for our people,” he stated, while appealing for sustained support from stakeholders and constituents.
As part of the visit, the lawmaker also paid a courtesy call to the palace of His Royal Highness, the Aguma of Bassa, alongside other traditional rulers, where he received royal blessings.
In their separate remarks, the Bassa LGA Chairman and other prominent speakers commended Hon. Haruna for what they described as his laudable achievements. They expressed strong support for his re-election bid, praising his performance and leadership.
The meeting concluded with widespread endorsement from stakeholders, reflecting growing confidence in his continued representation.
