Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna IJN, Member Representing Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency has expressed deep sympathy with the people of Ogane-Nigu Ward and other affected communities across Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency following the recent attack that led to the loss of innocent lives and destruction of properties.
In his message of condolence, Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna commiserated with families of the victims and prayed for the repose of the departed souls, while urging residents to remain calm as efforts to restore peace continue.
He also commended the Kogi State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for its swift intervention, as well as the Chairmen of Dekina and Bassa Local Government Areas, Hon. John Urah Ikan and Hon. Theophilus Adama, for their proactive roles in ensuring security is reinforced in the affected areas.
As part of his immediate response to cushion the effects of the crisis, Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna provided relief materials, including food items, to displaced persons taking refuge in Ogane-Nigu, particularly those camped in Etutekpe, as well as victims in Ebeje, Okpakili, Okete, and other affected communities.
The distribution of the relief materials was carried out on his behalf by his Senior Legislative Aide ( SLA), Hon. Achile Salihu, in the presence of key stakeholders, including the Dekina Local Government Chairman, Hon. John Urah Ikan; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters in Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon. Kabiru Adaji; traditional rulers; community leaders; religious leaders; as well as youth and women representatives.
Reaffirming his commitment to the safety and well-being of his constituents, Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna IJN assured his Constituents of working in close collaboration with both the state and local government authorities to ensure a lasting solution to the recurring security challenges, emphasizing that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority.
Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna called for unity, vigilance, and cooperation among residents as collective efforts continue towards restoring lasting peace and stability in the constituency.
