All Set for Elsie Ajayi Ikoli’s Burial in Lagos

Lagos is preparing to host hundreds of mourners on Friday as family, friends, and well-wishers gather to honour the life and legacy of Madam Elsie Ajayi Ikoli.

The respected matriarch, known for her courage, discipline, generosity, and deep commitment to family, passed away on September 2, 2025, in Lagos.

Funeral events will commence with a Service of Songs and Night of Tributes on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at The Citadel, 274 Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island.

In a statement released by the Ernest Ikoli Foundation, the organisation praised Madam Ikoli for her strength, hard work, prudence, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the family.

“We are prepared for the last journey of Madam Elsie Ajayi Ikoli. Her body will be taken from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital on Friday, November 28, 2025, to 26 Eric Moore Close for the Lying-in-State. The children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will pay their last respects to her,” the statement said.

The Foundation highlighted her remarkable achievements in the business community as well as her committed service in the Lord’s vineyard.

According to the statement signed by the Executive Vice Chairman, Chief Anthony George-Ikoli, a funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at The Salvation Army Church, 11 Odunlami Street, Lagos Island, after which she will be laid to rest at Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi.

A celebration of life reception will follow at 2:00 p.m. at The Hall Event Center, 16 Musa Yar’Adua Street, Victoria Island.

The ceremonies will conclude with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at The Salvation Army Church, where dignitaries are expected to join the family of Ernest Sissei Ikoli, the renowned Nigerian nationalist and pioneering journalist.
