The son of Nigeria’s former Vice President, Abba Atiku Abubakar, has joined the All Progressives Congress.

Atiku also pledged to mobilize support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

He was received by the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin and the National Vice Chairman of the APC, North East, Mustafa Salihu, Thursday evening, in Abuja.

Abba Abubakar Atiku also renamed the political group he founded to Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation.

It was set up in 2022 as Atiku Haske organisation.

In November 2025, GISTSMATE MEDIA reported that the former Vice President officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a major twist in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made via his X (formerly Twitter), where Abubakar shared photos of himself receiving his ADC membership card alongside a customised “Waziri 01” jersey.

The registration took place in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, and attracted a large gathering of supporters, party officials, and community leaders.

In the images, Abubakar is seen raising his membership form as excited supporters captured the moment on their phones.

“It’s official. – AA,” he wrote, confirming long-standing speculation about his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he had been a dominant figure for decades.
