Trump Launches ‘Operation Epic Fury’ Against Iran After Saudi, Israeli Lobbying – The Bureau News | Nigeria News Today

By Enemona Samuel Endurance

Washington D.C. — The Bureau News reports that United States President Donald Trump ordered a large-scale military operation against Iran on Saturday following sustained lobbying from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and strategic backing from Israel.

The development was first reported by The Washington Post, which cited four sources familiar with high-level discussions preceding the strike.

Nigeria News Today: Behind “Operation Epic Fury”

According to the report, the operation — code-named “Operation Epic Fury” — followed months of private calls from the Saudi Crown Prince urging direct U.S. military action against Tehran.

Although Saudi Arabia had publicly supported diplomatic engagement, sources quoted by The Washington Post said behind-the-scenes pressure from Riyadh and Tel Aviv significantly influenced the final decision.

Iran’s Leadership Hit in Coordinated Strike

The joint U.S.–Israeli operation reportedly targeted senior Iranian leadership and military infrastructure.

Iranian state media confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed during the aerial campaign. Reports also indicated that at least 40 senior officials were eliminated in the strikes.

Retaliatory Missile Strikes

In response, Iran launched missile attacks on U.S. military bases across Gulf states, including facilities in Saudi Arabia.

Regional security analysts warn that the escalation could widen tensions across the Middle East, raising concerns over oil markets, regional alliances and global security stability.

Trump’s National Address

During a live broadcast, President Trump declared that the objective of the operation was to dismantle Iran’s nuclear capabilities and neutralize what he described as threats posed by the Iranian regime.

He maintained that Iran would never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons and called on Iranian citizens to reclaim control of their government following the military campaign.

The Bureau News will continue to monitor developments as part of its global coverage under Nigeria News Today.
