Abuja, Nigeria — April 6, 2026

The Middle Belt Rebirth Group (MBRG) has expressed strong support for the Fire Service Chief, Chief Samuel Olumode Adeyemi, following recent criticism surrounding his official homecoming in Kogi State.

In a statement signed by its leader, Hamza Yusuf, the group dismissed allegations that the Fire Service Chief displayed an extravagant convoy during the event, describing such claims as misleading and politically motivated.

The group clarified that the homecoming ceremony was organized by the people of Kogi State to honor Adeyemi for what it described as his “outstanding contributions and remarkable strides” in national service.

It was confirmed that the Bunu Progressive Forum earlier invited the fire service boss to his home, especially since it is a festive period. And he has to honor them as an illustrious son of the soil.

According to the statement, such events often attract dignitaries and prominent individuals and should not be misconstrued as official displays by the fire service as an institution.

“We have observed with concern the growing attempts by certain individuals and groups to undermine the credibility, authority, and integrity of the Fire Service Chief through the spread of unverified claims and sensational narratives,” the statement read. “We unequivocally condemn these actions in their entirety.”

The MBRG emphasized that the Office of the Fire Service Chief remains a critical component of Nigeria’s emergency response system, warning that unfounded allegations could erode public trust in an institution tasked with safeguarding lives and property.

While acknowledging the importance of public scrutiny in a democratic society, the group stressed that such engagement must be grounded in facts and fairness. It cautioned against what it described as the politicization of isolated incidents for personal or sectional interests.

Following what it termed a “careful and objective review” of the situation, the group passed a vote of confidence in Adeyemi, expressing belief in his leadership and ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s fire service operations.

The MBRG also called on Nigerians to exercise caution in sharing information, urging the public to remain responsible and discerning. It further appealed to stakeholders and opinion leaders to promote constructive dialogue rather than divisive rhetoric.

Additionally, the group encouraged relevant authorities to continue enhancing the operational capacity of the Fire Service to better serve citizens nationwide.

Reaffirming its commitment to national unity and institutional integrity, the MBRG stated that it would continue to oppose actions capable of undermining public institutions while advocating for accountability and progress.
