Israel Hacked Tehran Traffic Cameras to Spy on Khamenei Before Strike – The Bureau News | Nigeria News Today

By Enemona Samuel Endurance

The Bureau News reports that Israeli intelligence operatives allegedly hacked into Tehran’s traffic camera network to monitor Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, ahead of a coordinated U.S.–Israeli military strike.

According to a report by the Financial Times, Israeli spies spent years surveilling Khamenei’s security detail by accessing encrypted traffic camera feeds across the Iranian capital.

How Israel Gained Access to Tehran’s Camera Network

Intelligence sources claimed operatives infiltrated nearly all of Tehran’s traffic cameras, including a security camera positioned near Khamenei’s compound. The footage allegedly revealed security guard routines, parking locations, and timing patterns.

Encrypted images were reportedly transmitted back to Israel, allowing intelligence officials to map addresses, work hours, and travel routes of senior Iranian security personnel.

One Israeli intelligence official told the Financial Times: “We knew Tehran like we know Jerusalem.”

Operation Epic Fury and the Targeting Strategy

The strike formed part of a broader operation reportedly known as “Operation Epic Fury,” a joint U.S.–Israeli offensive.

Officials said social network analysis was deployed to study behavioural patterns and determine the optimal time to act. Intelligence reportedly suggested that targeting Khamenei early in the assault would reduce the likelihood of escape to fortified bunkers.

On the day of the strike, at least two Israeli intelligence officers independently confirmed through surveillance feeds and network monitoring that Khamenei was present at his compound.

According to U.S. officials, coordinated cyber operations disrupted Iranian communication and sensor systems ahead of precision airstrikes.

Cyber Warfare and Tactical Surprise

General Dan Caine, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated that the initial phase of the operation was designed to “daze and confuse” Iranian forces.

“Coordinated space and cyber operations effectively disrupted communications and sensor networks,” he said.

The Israeli military reportedly launched up to 30 precision strikes on the compound during daylight hours, describing the move as a tactical surprise despite heavy Iranian preparedness.

Political Fallout and Regional Implications

Interim Iranian leaders have since formed a council expected to select a successor. The assassination marks one of the most consequential targeted killings in recent Middle Eastern history.

Meanwhile, U.S. political figures acknowledged there was no intelligence suggesting Iran was preparing an imminent attack on American soil before the operation.
