The National Youth Coalition for Good Governance, led by Comrade Daniel Ahmed, has passed a vote of confidence on the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, citing his leadership, reforms, and notable achievements in advancing road safety across Nigeria.
The announcement was made by the coalition’s leadership under the guidance of Daniel Ahmed, who said the decision followed a careful assessment of the Corps Marshal’s performance and contributions since assuming office.
According to the group, Mohammed has demonstrated strong commitment to innovation, professionalism, and accountability within the FRSC, leading to several reforms that have strengthened the agency’s operations and improved service delivery.
Among the major achievements highlighted by the coalition is the digital transformation of the FRSC, including the launch of the FRSC Mobile App, designed as a one-stop platform for accessing the agency’s services and products. The initiative aims to improve efficiency, transparency, and public engagement in road safety management.
The coalition also noted that under Mohammed’s leadership, the FRSC recorded a 12.8 percent reduction in road crashes compared to the same period in 2023, describing the development as evidence of improved enforcement strategies, public awareness campaigns, and better coordination of road safety operations.
In recognition of these reforms, the FRSC has received several awards and recognitions. These include the 2024 SERVICOM Award for the Most Innovative Parastatal, the Kofi Annan Road Safety Award for digital reforms, and a top ranking among military and paramilitary institutions in a recent performance evaluation.
The group further commended Mohammed for strengthening strategic partnerships, including collaborations with digital and online platforms to educate Nigerians on road safety principles. It also highlighted improved cooperation with sister security agencies to enhance road safety enforcement and emergency response operations.
Additionally, the coalition praised the Corps Marshal for improving operational efficiency within the FRSC, citing the implementation of a comprehensive personnel deployment strategy, equitable representation in the appointment of sector and zonal commanding officers, and the introduction of special patrol operations aimed at addressing specific traffic management challenges across the country.
The National Youth Coalition for Good Governance said the vote of confidence reflects the Corps Marshal’s dedication and the positive impact of his leadership on road safety administration in Nigeria.
The group also commended officers and personnel of the FRSC for their continued commitment to duty and urged them to sustain efforts toward improving road safety and promoting good governance in the country.
