By Suleiman Ramat, Kano
The Bureau News reports that political momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections is gathering pace as Hon. Haruna Kabiru Wakili has officially declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Fagge Federal Constituency in Kano state under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wakili’s declaration follows mounting pressure and calls from residents and supporters across Fagge Local Government Area, who have continued to commend his contributions to grassroots development.
The Bureau News: Grassroots Support Boosts Wakili’s Ambition
Residents of Fagge have described Wakili as a committed and accessible politician who has consistently supported youths and vulnerable groups despite not holding any elective office.
Known for his focus on youth empowerment, education support, and self-reliance initiatives, Wakili has built a strong reputation within the constituency.
Community members noted that he has remained actively engaged with constituents, in contrast to some former representatives who, according to them, became distant after assuming office.
Nigeria News Today: Political Experience Strengthens Candidacy
Hon. Wakili is not new to the political landscape, having previously led a political party and contested for the same House of Representatives seat in the last general election.
His experience and longstanding grassroots connection have further strengthened calls for his return to the race.
Now a member of the APC, he is said to enjoy broad support from party stakeholders, youths, elders, and women across Fagge.
Wakili Responds to Calls, Seeks APC Support
Confirming his decision to run, Wakili said he was responding to the will of the people and a sense of duty to serve his constituency.
“By the grace of God, I will contest for the House of Representatives under the APC,” he stated.
He appealed to party leaders, executives, and members in Fagge to rally behind his ambition and work collectively toward success in both the primaries and the general election.
Wakili also urged stakeholders to consider him as a consensus candidate, stressing that his ambition is driven by popular demand.
He expressed confidence that even if the contest goes through a primary election, he would secure the party’s ticket and emerge victorious in the 2027 polls.
The Bureau News understands that political observers believe his declaration could significantly influence the dynamics of the Fagge House of Representatives race as preparations intensify ahead of the elections.
