In a dramatic security incident, U.S. President Donald Trump was rushed off stage after a gunman reportedly opened fire near the venue of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.

According to preliminary reports, the suspect—described as a 31-year-old man from California—attempted to breach a security checkpoint while armed with multiple weapons.

Gunshots were fired shortly after the attempted breach, prompting immediate response from security personnel.

Trump, who was present at the high-profile dinner alongside members of his cabinet, was swiftly evacuated from the stage by security operatives.

Authorities confirmed that the president and all cabinet members are safe.

The Bureau News: Suspect Arrested, Charges Filed

Law enforcement agencies confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody.

The U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, disclosed that the individual will face charges including:

  • Use of a firearm during a crime of violence
  • Assault on a federal officer with a dangerous weapon

A U.S. Secret Service agent was reportedly shot during the incident but was protected by body armor. The agent has since been hospitalised and is receiving treatment.
