Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has announced a significant policy change: beginning October 14, 2025, the maximum fine for any traffic offence in the state will be capped at ₦10,000. This decision aims to alleviate the financial burdens faced by motorists during challenging economic times.
During a town hall meeting with transport stakeholders at Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium in Onitsha, Soludo emphasized the need for a fair governance model that considers the realities of citizens. He stated, “This policy is designed to alleviate the economic strain on our people, particularly in a time when many are grappling with rising costs.”
In addition to the fine adjustment, Soludo pledged to establish a special task force to combat illegal tax collection and ensure that all cash collections are remitted to government coffers. He also highlighted plans for the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency to designate proper bus stops and improve road markings.
The governor praised the transport sector’s contributions to the state’s economy and reiterated his administration’s commitment to development, stating, “Development of Anambra State under this administration is just the beginning.”
This new policy is expected to foster a more compassionate approach to law enforcement while promoting economic stability for drivers in Anambra.
