A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Peter Michael Egwudah, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Ibaji Constituency seat in the Kogi State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The declaration, which took place at the headquarters of Ibaji Local Government Area, attracted a large gathering of party stakeholders, youths, women groups, and supporters from across the ten wards of the constituency.
Egwudah Promises Purposeful Leadership for Ibaji
In his address, Egwudah said his decision to contest was driven by consultations with party leaders and the people of Ibaji, stressing that his ambition is rooted in service and collective progress.
“I rise not out of personal ambition, but as a vessel of the people’s will. Leadership must reflect the collective yearning of the people,” he said.
He described himself as a strong advocate of purposeful leadership, pledging to provide representation that listens, responds, and delivers tangible development to the people.
The APC hopeful lamented what he termed years of neglect in Ibaji, assuring residents that the time had come to change the narrative and reposition the constituency for growth.
Calls for Unity Among APC Members
Egwudah called on party members and supporters to remain united, emphasizing that unity is key to achieving political success and effective representation.
He noted that Ibaji must take its rightful place in governance by actively participating in decision-making processes that affect development and resource allocation.
The aspirant also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, pledging to mobilise grassroots support for their continued leadership.

The event witnessed significant turnout, with various socio-cultural groups, political stakeholders, and community members expressing support for his ambition.
Observers described the gathering as a strong indication of growing political momentum ahead of the 2027 elections in Kogi State.
