The Kebbi State Police Command has expressed concern over an unfortunate incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday in Badariya Area, Birnin Kebbi metropolis, which resulted in the death of Sufiyanu Garba, aged 35, and the abduction of his wife.
Immediate Police Response to the Incident
In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, it was confirmed that detectives promptly visited the scene and commenced necessary investigations after receiving the report. The statement highlighted that a police checkpoint is situated not far from the scene of the incident, which could have been alerted for a faster response.
Victim Confirmed Dead at Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital
The victim, Sufiyanu Garba, was taken to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. His remains have since been deposited at the hospital morgue.
Investigation Underway for the Abduction
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure a thorough and diligent investigation aimed at rescuing the abducted victim and bringing those responsible to justice.
