The Bureau News reports that Iran held a mass funeral ceremony on Tuesday for 165 primary schoolgirls and staff killed in what Iranian authorities described as a joint United States–Israeli missile strike.

The victims were reportedly killed on February 28 after tomahawk cruise missiles were fired during the opening phase of a broader military operation.

Nigeria News Today: What Happened in Minab?

According to Iranian officials, the strike hit a girls’ primary school in Minab, a city in southern Iran, resulting in the deaths of 165 pupils and teachers.

State media broadcast images of large crowds gathered for funeral rites, with coffins draped in national flags and mourners chanting against the United States and Israel.

The Iranian government described the attack as a deliberate strike on civilian infrastructure.

Israel Responds to Allegations

The Israeli military stated it was not aware of any Israeli or U.S. strike targeting a school in the Minab area.

Officials said they were reviewing operational details amid the growing international reaction to the incident.

The United States has not issued a detailed public statement specifically addressing the school strike claim as of press time.

International Concerns Over Civilian Casualties

The reported deaths have intensified global scrutiny over civilian safety amid escalating hostilities in the Middle East.

Human rights advocates have called for an independent international investigation to establish the facts surrounding the incident and determine accountability.

Security analysts warn that the tragedy could further inflame regional tensions and complicate diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation.

The Bureau News will continue to monitor official statements and verified developments as part of its ongoing Nigeria News Today global security coverage.
