Several bandits have been neutralised in Kogi State following sustained joint security operations involving the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force.

The coordinated offensive, which includes targeted air strikes and ground assaults, has disrupted criminal networks operating within forested areas of the state.

Security sources disclosed that the operations focused on identified bandit enclaves and logistical routes used by armed groups to launch attacks on rural communities.

The strikes reportedly led to the destruction of hideouts, weapons caches, and supply lines, significantly weakening the operational capacity of the criminal groups.

Troops and police tactical units were said to have advanced into difficult terrain after aerial bombardments, forcing fleeing bandits into disarray and cutting off escape routes.

Authorities confirmed that the operation remains ongoing, with security forces maintaining pressure on remaining pockets of resistance.

The development comes amid intensified efforts by security agencies to restore peace in Kogi State and neighbouring regions affected by banditry, kidnapping, and armed robbery.

Residents in affected areas have been urged to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible intelligence.

Security officials reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of lives and property across Nigeria.
