Nigeria News Today: Sad Death of FUL Lokoja Female Student After Snake Bite Stuns University Community

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Kogi State, has been thrown into deep mourning following the tragic death of a 200-level Biotechnology student popularly known as Favour, who reportedly died after a snake bite incident that occurred on Thursday night.
According to reliable details made available to The Bureau News, the unfortunate incident happened at Itakeate Isao under circumstances still being discussed among students and members of the university community.
In a statement released by the Students’ Union Government (SUG) Public Relations Officer, Comrade Baye, the union described the tragedy as devastating and emotionally draining for students and staff.
“With deep pain and heavy hearts, we sadly announce the passing of Favour, a 200-level student of Biotechnology,” the statement read.
It was gathered that after the snake attack, she was rushed immediately to the Isanlu General Hospital for urgent treatment. Unfortunately, despite all efforts by medical personnel, she did not survive.
The shocking news spread rapidly across campus, triggering sorrow, prayers, emotional messages, and a wave of condolences from lecturers, students, and school authorities. The Students’ Union expressed sincere sympathy to Favour’s family, classmates, and the Department of Biotechnology.
“This loss is heartbreaking and difficult to accept. Our hearts go out to her family, friends, and coursemates during this painful moment,” the SUG stated.
The union further called on students to stay calm, offer support to one another, and urged the university management to intensify safety measures across student residential areas and bushes surrounding campus environments.
The Bureau News understands that more details surrounding the incident will emerge as investigations continue. Meanwhile, prayers continue to pour in for the departed student.
