The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Joseph Oyewole as a Justice of the Supreme Court, marking a significant addition to the nation’s highest judicial body.
The confirmation followed the consideration and unanimous adoption of a report submitted by the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters during plenary.
Presenting the report, the committee’s chairman, Senator Niyi Adegbonmire, who represents Ondo Central, informed lawmakers that Oyewole met all constitutional and professional requirements for the position. He noted that the nominee demonstrated competence, integrity, and extensive experience in the legal profession.
Following deliberations, senators voted in support of the recommendation, leading to Oyewole’s confirmation.
The appointment is expected to strengthen the capacity of the Supreme Court in handling critical legal matters and upholding justice across the country.
