ENUGU, NIGERIA — In a major breakthrough for alternative medicine in Nigeria, Trust Global Services Ltd (formerly Ekenna Natures Ltd) has officially launched two NAFDAC-approved organ-recovery drugs — Kidver and Donix-T — designed for the prevention and management of cancers, kidney, liver, heart diseases, and diabetes.

The unveiling ceremony, held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, brought together top medical, pharmaceutical, and legal professionals who hailed the products as a landmark achievement in Nigeria’s evolving integrative medicine industry.

Local Innovation Targets Medical Tourism

Industry analysts described the event as a clear sign that Nigeria can achieve medical self-reliance through scientifically developed natural therapies. The launch also echoed calls for a national policy shift to reduce medical tourism and strengthen domestic research in phytomedicine.

Declaring the event open, Dr Ifeanyi Okoye, Chairman of the occasion and CEO of Juhel Nigeria Ltd, commended Pharm. Dr Ekenna Eze for his vision and ingenuity in natural drug formulation, urging governments at all levels to support such innovations.

“In my 45 years as a pharmacist, this is the first time I am witnessing the launch of naturally formulated drugs made in Nigeria,” Dr Okoye said. “Dr Ekenna’s effort is proof that local research can save lives and reverse medical tourism.”

Experts Endorse Phytomedicine Approach

Dr Ekochin Fintan, former Enugu State Health Commissioner and clinical drug reviewer, praised Ekenna’s scientific approach, noting that the products were developed through rigorous testing and NAFDAC validation.

“What we are seeing today is an attempt to bridge the gap between traditional phytomedicine and modern pharmacology,” he said. “Trust Global Services has demonstrated that with research and integrity, Nigeria can produce safe, effective, plant-based medicines.”

He highlighted that the company’s guiding philosophy — “Let food be thy medicine and medicine thy food” — aligns with global best practices in nutritional and preventive medicine.

Kidver and Donix-T: Designed for Organ Protection

Explaining the science behind the new formulations, Dr Ekenna said Kidver and Donix-T were developed to “mop up reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS and RNS)” — the harmful molecules responsible for organ damage and chronic inflammation.

“These formulations halt degeneration of diseases into full-blown cancer, kidney failure, diabetes, stroke, and other chronic illnesses,” he said. “They help correct abnormal liver and kidney functions, lipid profiles, and tumor marker levels.”

He added that the research project was largely self-funded and called on federal and state governments to partner with his firm to expand clinical studies and production capacity for wider access.

NAFDAC Commended for Scientific Oversight

Dr Ekenna, a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and holder of a Doctorate in Phytopharmacology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, thanked Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, Director-General of NAFDAC, for championing the integration of alternative medicine through scientific evaluation and quality assurance.

Stakeholders Laud Indigenous Breakthrough

Dignitaries at the launch included Prof George Ugwu (Enugu State Health Commissioner), Prof Ubaka Chukwuemeka Michael (former Vice-Chancellor, IMSU), Prof P.A. Akah, Dr Ikechukwu Odo, and Barr Odo Venatus of the Nigerian Bar Association. They all lauded Trust Global Services for contributing to Nigeria’s health innovation ecosystem.

The event also featured moving testimonies from patients who said they had recovered from various stages of cancer, kidney, and liver ailments after using the company’s herbal products.

“By investing in indigenous research, we are not only saving lives but also empowering our economy,” one participant said.
