Kabba-Bunu Residents Protest Rising Insecurity in Kogi West

By Queen Madaki | The Bureau News

Nigeria News Today: Residents of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi West Senatorial District on Friday staged a protest over the worsening security situation in the area, calling on authorities to take urgent action.

The protesters, who turned out in large numbers, expressed deep concern over the increasing activities of bandits in the region, alleging that several indigenes have been abducted and are currently being held hostage.

According to the demonstrators, persistent attacks and fear of kidnapping have forced many communities to abandon their homes, leaving several villages partially or completely deserted.

They appealed to the federal and state governments to intervene decisively, warning that continued neglect of the situation could further destabilise the area and deepen humanitarian concerns.

“Our people are living in fear, and many communities have been forced to flee their homes because of constant attacks,” one of the protesters said.

The residents stressed that immediate security intervention is required to restore peace and prevent the situation from escalating beyond control.

As reported by The Bureau News, the protest adds to growing calls across Kogi State for improved security measures in rural communities.

Security challenges in parts of Nigeria have continued to draw national attention, with similar concerns highlighted in broader reports by international media such as Reuters and BBC, underscoring the urgency of coordinated responses.

Residents said they would continue to demand protection of lives and property until lasting peace is restored in Kabba-Bunu and other affected communities in Kogi West.
