The former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has commented over the decamping of his son, Abba Atiku Abubakar to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
THE BUREAU reported that the son of African Democratic Congress (ADC) Chieftain has joined the All Progressives Congress.
Abba Atiku also pledged to mobilize support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
He was received by the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin and the National Vice Chairman of the APC, North East, Mustafa Salihu, Thursday evening, in Abuja.
Abba Abubakar Atiku also renamed the political group he founded to Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation.
Speaking on the defection, Atiku on his X page said it’s bound to happen in a democracy settings, and his son decision is entirely personal.
He said, “The decision of my son, Abba Abubakar, to join the APC is entirely personal.
“In a democracy, such choices are neither unusual nor alarming, even when family and politics intersect.
“As a democrat, I do not coerce my own children in matters of conscience, and I certainly will not coerce Nigerians.
“What truly concerns me is the poor governance of the APC and the severe economic and social hardships it has imposed on our people.
“I remain resolute in working with like-minded patriots to restore good governance and offer Nigerians a credible alternative that brings relief, hope, and progress. -AA”
