Nigeria News Today: Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has hosted political leaders and key stakeholders in the state to a New Year banquet, using the occasion to reaffirm confidence in his administration and its direction.

Speaking at the gathering, Governor Fubara urged attendees not to be distracted by ongoing political developments, stressing that his government remains focused on its goals and long-term vision for Rivers State.

“Let us not be fooled by whatever it is that is happening. Caesar once said that the only reason a dog barks is when it does not understand,” the governor stated.

He explained that those who understand the journey ahead do not need to raise unnecessary alarm, adding that his administration is clear about its destination and has already put in place structures to ensure stability and progress.

Governor Fubara likened the current political atmosphere to a misunderstanding rather than a threat, insisting that his government is not reacting out of fear but acting from a position of clarity and preparedness.

“We are not barking because we understand. We know where we are going and we have set all the things that are needed to make the journey smooth and easy-sailing,” he added.

The New Year banquet brought together leaders from across political, traditional and civic sectors, offering an opportunity for reflection, unity and renewed commitment to governance.

According to the governor, 2026 presents another opportunity to deepen collaboration, strengthen institutions and deliver sustainable development for the people of Rivers State.

The event, covered by The Bureau News, underscores the administration’s emphasis on dialogue, reassurance and forward planning as the new year unfolds.

Observers note that similar unity-focused messages have also been echoed in broader national conversations reported by outlets such as Reuters and BBC, reflecting a wider call for political stability across Nigeria.
