FG Declares Oct. 1 Public Holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, as a public holiday to mark the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated all Nigerians, both domestically and in the diaspora, on this significant occasion. He encouraged citizens to uphold the spirit of patriotism, unity, and resilience that has characterized Nigeria since its independence in 1960.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also urged Nigerians to maintain faith in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing its focus on national rebirth, economic transformation, and collective prosperity. He expressed optimism that, with the cooperation of all Nigerians, the nation will continue to advance in peace, progress, and development.

The Minister wished everyone a happy and memorable Independence Day celebration.
