Nigeria News Today: Customs Port Harcourt Area I Command Honours Stakeholders, Strengthens Collaboration

The Nigeria Customs Service, Port Harcourt Area I Command has honoured key stakeholders and partner agencies during its maiden Stakeholders Get-Together held at the Command’s Training Room in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The event, which took place on Thursday, December 18, 2025, was formally confirmed in a statement issued and signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I, Barilule Aanee.
The statement described the gathering as a landmark engagement designed to appreciate stakeholders whose cooperation significantly enhanced the Command’s operational success, revenue performance, regulatory compliance, cargo management, and enforcement efficiency throughout the year.
Speaking at the event, the Customs Area Controller, Port Harcourt Area I Command, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, affirmed that the achievements recorded by the Command were made possible through sustained partnership, constructive engagement, transparency, and mutual trust with stakeholders across the maritime and logistics value chain.
She further explained that the Stakeholders Get-Together was established to strengthen collaboration, deepen dialogue, and reinforce professionalism, transparency, and fairness in Customs operations.
Comptroller Atuluku acknowledged the support of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and the Management Team of the Nigeria Customs Service, whose policy direction has improved trade facilitation and enhanced Customs–Stakeholder relations nationwide.
The Zonal Coordinator, Customs Zone C Headquarters, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Kamal Mohammed, commended the Command for initiating the event, describing it as strategic, timely, and vital to national economic development.
Goodwill messages were delivered by heads of major industry groups including:
- Dr. Emmanuel Okoh – Chairman, ANLCA Area I Chapter
- Mr. Charles Onyema – Chairman, ANLCA Airport Chapter
- Chief Ngozi Uzohuo – Vice President, NAGAFF Eastern Zone
- Dr. Femi Otunba – CEO, JFDOR International Ltd
The stakeholders praised the Command for improved openness, engagement, and high professional standards.
The Bureau News gathered that the Command also highlighted its Corporate Social Responsibility intervention at Model Primary School Orominike I & II, D-Line, Port Harcourt, where pupils received learning materials, school uniforms, and branded school bags.
The high point of the event was the presentation of awards to distinguished stakeholders who supported the Command’s activities during the year.
Assistant Comptroller General of Customs (ACG) Kamal Mohammed received an award in recognition of his strategic guidance, while Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku received a Social Impact Pioneer Award for championing impactful community development initiatives.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining collaboration, enhancing trade facilitation, and strengthening national economic security.
