The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved the appointment of Professor Sanusi Avidime as the new Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
The appointment was announced on Monday as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the management and academic leadership of tertiary institutions across the state. According to a statement from the government, the selection followed due process and was based on Professor Avidime’s academic credentials, administrative experience, and commitment to educational development.
Professor Avidime is a seasoned academic with years of experience in teaching, research, and higher education administration. He has held several leadership positions within the academic community and is widely regarded as a scholar with a strong record of service and professionalism.
Governor Ododo charged the newly appointed Rector to prioritize academic excellence, institutional discipline, and infrastructural development while fostering a conducive learning environment for students and staff of the polytechnic. The governor also emphasized the importance of aligning the institution’s programs with the state’s development goals and the needs of the labor market.
The appointment has been welcomed by stakeholders, including members of the academic community and residents of the Ebira region, who expressed optimism that Professor Avidime’s leadership will usher in a new era of growth and stability for the institution.
Professor Avidime is expected to assume office immediately.
