Police Arrest 10 Suspects Over Murder, Kidnap in Kebbi | Nigeria News Today

The Bureau News reports that the Kebbi State Police Command has arrested ten suspects in connection with the murder of Garba Sufyanu and the abduction of his wife in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area.
The incident occurred in the Badariya area of the state capital, where the victim was killed and his wife, Zainab Mohammad, abducted.
Nigeria News Today: Police Confirm Arrests, Rescue Victim
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the police confirmed that the abducted victim has been safely rescued and reunited with her family.
The Command condemned the incident, describing it as a heinous crime, and reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property.
The Bureau News gathered that the breakthrough was achieved through a coordinated operation involving the State Intelligence Department (SID) and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
Suspects Linked to SIM Card Fraud, Kidnap Network
According to the police, the suspects were arrested based on credible intelligence and technical analysis.
Those arrested include Zakariya Abubakar Diggi, Joseph Dahali Wanda, Sanda Alhaji, Mamman Abubakar Manu, Aisha Manu, Saudatu Abubakar, Abubakar Muhammad, Betuwa Muhammad, Abdullahi Umaru, and Ja’i Garba.
Investigations revealed that two of the suspects, Zakariya Abubakar Diggi and Joseph Dahali Wanda, are SIM registration agents allegedly involved in the fraudulent registration of SIM cards using proxy identities.
The police said the SIM cards were used by kidnappers to facilitate ransom negotiations.
Investigation Ongoing, More Arrests Expected
The Command disclosed that other suspects are currently under investigation for their roles in the crime, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional suspects still at large.
Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication.
He assured the public that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Bureau News reports that security agencies in Kebbi State have intensified efforts to combat kidnapping and related crimes across the state.
