Lokoja — The Bureau News reports that the Ebira Indigenous People of Lokoja (EIPL) have raised concerns over alleged marginalization, calling for fair political representation ahead of the upcoming Kogi State House of Assembly elections.
Nigeria News Today: Ebira Group Demands Inclusion
In a formal communication, the group expressed dissatisfaction over what it described as a lack of equitable political representation despite its consistent support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The association stated that the Ebira community in Lokoja Local Government Area has contributed significantly to the political, social, and economic development of the state but has not received commensurate recognition in elective positions.
The Bureau News: Community Backs Candidate for Assembly Seat
The group announced its support for Comrade Ibrahim Osite, whom it presented as its preferred candidate for the Lokoja I State Constituency seat.
According to the association, Osite represents a new generation of leadership capable of advancing the interests of the constituency and promoting inclusive governance.
Call to Party Leaders and Stakeholders
The Ebira group appealed to party leaders, stakeholders, and relevant authorities within the APC to consider their demand and support their candidate in the spirit of fairness and equity.
They emphasized that inclusive representation would strengthen unity, foster political stability, and ensure that all communities within Lokoja are adequately represented.
