President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has joined other global leaders in Tokyo, Japan, for the 2025 Tokyo International Conference, a high-level gathering focused on strengthening international cooperation, economic growth, and sustainable development.
The summit, which brings together heads of state, policymakers, and global business leaders, is expected to provide a platform for dialogue on trade, investment, climate change, and technological innovation. Nigeria’s participation underscores its renewed push to attract foreign investment and expand diplomatic ties in Asia.
President Tinubu is scheduled to attend plenary sessions, bilateral meetings with Japanese officials, and engagements with top executives from leading multinational corporations. According to aides, his discussions will center on deepening economic cooperation, exploring opportunities in energy, infrastructure, and technology, as well as securing new partnerships for Nigeria’s development agenda.
Diplomatic observers note that the Tokyo conference offers Nigeria a vital opportunity to strengthen its voice on the global stage while fostering strategic alliances in line with Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” foreign policy vision.
The president is also expected to proceed to Brazil for a state visit later this month, where talks will further focus on trade and South-South cooperation.
