KBSG Commends DSS for Key Role in Establishing Forest Guards

By Abdullahi Tukur Birnin Kebbi

The Bureau News Nigeria reports that the Kebbi State Government has commended the Department of State Security (DSS) for its significant role in ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state, especially through the setup of the new Forest Guards security outfit.

How DSS Support Strengthens Security in Kebbi

In a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK highlighted the DSS’s contributions from the early days of the original hunters group to the formal training and deployment of the new Forest Guards. The DSS’s leadership has helped align the security outfit with international standards.

Forest Guards Deployment and Training

Alhaji Ahmed BK explained that the Forest Guards will now operate as a trained support unit to existing security layers in Kebbi State. The initiative complements other inter‑agency operations, such as those strengthening air‑ground security synergy, as seen in recent collaborations between state and national forces (NSCDC and Air Warfare Doctrine Centre collaboration).

Government Partnership with Security Agencies

The Commissioner said the synergy between the Kebbi State Government and the DSS has been key to maintaining relative peace in the region. He urged sustained collaboration between state actors and security agencies to enhance stability, promote democracy, and open more opportunities for prosperity.

Governor’s Support for DSS Leadership

Alhaji Ahmed BK also praised Governor Comrade Nasir Idris for his confidence in the professionalism of the DSS. The statement noted that this confidence will ensure continued guidance, monitoring, and training of the Forest Guards for optimal performance.

Reassuring Residents of Safety and Peace

The statement concluded with reassurance to residents of Kebbi that the government remains committed to ensuring their safety. This aligns with recent reports of state support for security operations, including rescue and community protection efforts in the region (Kebbi Govt Praises Security for Deputy Speaker’s Rescue).
