Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has urged security agencies to maintain neutrality and professionalism in the state’s political environment, emphasizing that Osun, as the home state of President Bola Tinubu, should not become a political battleground.
Adeleke made this call during the decoration ceremony of his Aide-De-Camp (ADC), DSP Ahmed Bio Abdulraman, at the Government House in Osogbo. The event was attended by various security chiefs, including the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Gotan, and the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Igbalawole Sotiyo.
Adeleke commended the Nigeria Police Force for its professionalism and praised both the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Osun State Police Command for their discipline and adherence to due process. He lauded CP Gotan for promoting peace and order in the state.
The governor stressed the importance of maintaining a level playing field in political activities and insisted that law enforcement should not be compromised by partisanship. He acknowledged Osun as President Tinubu’s home state but asserted that the state belongs to everyone and should not be turned into a battleground.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan assured the governor of the command’s commitment to upholding fairness, human rights, and respect for the rule of law. He also affirmed their readiness to maintain peace and order in the state, acknowledging the government’s support as crucial to their operations.
