Mass Defection: APC Welcomes Wave of Decampees in Kogi West

Isanlu, Kogi State – July 5, 2025 — In a major boost to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, a large number of decampees were officially welcomed into the party during a rally held in Isanlu, Kogi West Senatorial District.

The event was led by the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ododo, in the company of the immediate past governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, and Hon. David Idris Zacharias, the member representing Idah Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Described as a “historic moment” by Hon. Zacharias, the defection ceremony witnessed the formal entry of former opposition party members into the APC fold, signaling a growing wave of support for the ruling party across the state.

“Today, I had the honor of joining His Excellency Governor Usman Ododo and our leader, former Governor Yahaya Bello, to receive a wave of decampees into the APC at Isanlu,” Hon. Zacharias said via an official statement.

“Their decision to join our great party is a reflection of confidence in our leadership and the developmental strides being witnessed across Kogi State.”


Strengthening APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

The defection is seen as a significant consolidation of political strength in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections. APC leaders in attendance reaffirmed their commitment to inclusiveness, unity, and grassroots development.

Hon. Zacharias noted that the expansion of the party through such political realignments would further energize efforts to transform Kogi and improve the lives of its citizens.
