Maiduguri, Borno State – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that it successfully neutralized Boko Haram terrorists and destroyed their hideouts in Borno State, thwarting a planned attack on Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the precision airstrikes were carried out between June 5th and 6th, 2025, under Operation Hadin Kai.

The coordinated air operations targeted terrorist enclaves at Tumbumma Baba and Chiralia in the Southern Tumbuns of Borno State. Intelligence reports had revealed that the hideouts were being used for storing weapons and coordinating attacks ahead of the Eid festivities.

“Acting on actionable intelligence, NAF aircraft delivered accurate strikes on key Boko Haram facilities used for logistics and operational planning. The strikes neutralized several terrorists and destroyed critical infrastructure,” the statement read.

Commodore Gabkwet described the operation as a pre-emptive action aimed at safeguarding civilians and ensuring peaceful Eid celebrations across the state. He reaffirmed NAF’s commitment to supporting national security and protecting citizens against extremist threats.
