🇳🇬🧨 Bomb Blast in Kano Leaves Five Dead

By Bureau Reporter – Kano | News Update in Nigeria Today

At least five persons have been confirmed dead following a suspected explosion involving a military-grade mortar bomb in Kano State. Fifteen others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the tragic incident that occurred early Saturday morning.

The explosion, which rocked the bustling community, triggered panic among residents and prompted a swift response from emergency personnel, including security operatives and medical teams.

Speaking at the scene, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, said preliminary investigations suggest the blast may have originated from a military ordnance believed to have been improperly handled or transported.

“I received a distress call this morning, and upon arriving at the location, we discovered what appears to be an explosion—possibly caused by a military mortar bomb,” CP Bakori stated. “Fifteen people were injured, and sadly, five lives were lost.”

He confirmed that the injured were promptly evacuated to nearby hospitals, and that investigations are ongoing.

According to CP Bakori, early reports indicate that the explosive material may have been in transit from Yobe State and was being conveyed in a trailer. However, it remains unclear whether the vehicle involved belonged to military personnel or private contractors.

“Security agencies are thoroughly investigating the origin and ownership of the explosive device,” the Commissioner said. “We urge the public to stay calm and avoid spreading unverified information while we continue to uncover the facts.”

The incident has raised concerns about the handling and transportation of military-grade weapons across civilian areas and the need for tighter control of such materials.
