The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025 academic session is 150.

The decision was disclosed at the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting held in Abuja, chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa. The meeting brought together education stakeholders to determine national admission standards for tertiary institutions.

Breakdown of Approved Cut-Off Marks:

  • Universities: 150

  • Colleges of Nursing: 140

  • Polytechnics, Colleges of Agriculture & Colleges of Education: 100

Dr. Alausa stressed that no institution is allowed to admit candidates below the approved thresholds, warning of strict sanctions against violators. He emphasized the importance of transparency, adherence to admission guidelines, and timely admission processing to maintain the credibility of Nigeria’s higher education system.

Admission Deadlines for 2025:

  • Public Universities: Must conclude admissions by October 2025

  • Private Universities: Deadline extended to November 2025

  • Polytechnics & Colleges of Education: Final deadline is December 2025

JAMB Registrar Sounds Note of Caution

Professor Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar, also gave stern warnings during the meeting. He noted that any institution that fails to submit its 2024 matriculation list will not be allowed to begin 2025 admissions.

He further emphasized compliance with JAMB’s Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS), stating:

“Institutions that fail to upload their senate-approved brochures to the IBASS portal by October 31, 2025, will lose the right to implement modified admission criteria for the 2026 session.”

This move is seen as part of broader reforms aimed at standardizing admission processes and enhancing data integrity across Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
