Following the devastating windstorm that recently wreaked havoc in Zogirma village in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris, has paid a Sympathy visit and donated the sum of N50 million to support the 266 affected households.
Governor Idris, stated that the donation was part of the State Government’s effort to alleviate the suffering of the victims.
The Governor said that, he was at Zogirma to see things for himself, sympathize with the victims and provide necessary support to them.
He added that, the State Government had already dispatched food relief items through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), which have been distributed to the victims.
The Governor directed community stakeholders to determine a fair and transparent method for distributing the N50 million donation based on the extent of damage each household suffered.
“I want the stakeholders to assess the level of damage for each victim and allocate the funds accordingly,” said he
The Chairman, Bunza Local Government Area, Alhaji Zayyanu Shehu, appreciated the Governor’s timely intervention, confirming that 266 households, including public facilities like schools were affected by the windstorm.
The District Head of Zogirma, Alhaji Tijjani Muhammad, also expressed gratitude for the Governor’s visit and presented further requests for the renovation of the district’s palace, mosque, and school.
Chairman of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhsji Bello Yakubu Rilisco, urged residents of Zogirma to remain loyal to Governor Idris’ administration and also listed the relief items provided as directed by the Governor.
