In a significant step toward improving healthcare access in Kano State, the Capacity for Sustainable Development (C4SD) has donated a fleet of vehicles and essential laptop computers to support the intergrated last-mile delivery of health commodities across the state.
This donation will restrengthen the DMCSA’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in receiving timely and reliable healthcare services.
The items donated include two (2) brand new delivery vans and two (2) mini buses —specially outfitted for medical delivery— as well as five (5) laptop computers and five (5) inertnet routers to be deployed to four Zonal Medical Warehouses located in Gaya, Rano, Gwarzo and Dambatta, as well as DMCSA central store (headquaters).
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Commissioner for Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, the Director-General DMCSA Pharm. Gali Sule welcomed the intervention, noting that it will boost delivery capacity, strengthen supply chains, and ensure continuous availability of essential health commodities across the state.
“This support comes at a crucial time. With growing demand for health services, especially in rural areas, these vehicles and computers will significantly improve our ability to meet the needs of residents of the state,” the DG stated.
He assured the leadership of C4SD that donated vehicles and computers will be effectively and efficiently utilized.
Handing over the vehicles and laptops, Mr. Nagedu Umoru, the C4SD Program Manager, said the intervention is aimed at enhancing logistics coordination, data reporting, and inventory management.
“Reliable transportation and digital tools are vital supply chain management,” Umoru observed, adding that “This donation will empower local health teams to deliver essential medicines more efficiently.”
This initiative is part of C4SD’s broader mission to improve health systems and advance health equity through sustainable infrastructure and capacity building.
Funded by the Gates Foundation, the C4SD is a nonprofit implementing international NGO focused on delivering innovative solutions to improve global health outcomes. It works closely with governments and other donor partners to strengthen health systems and expand access to quality care
