President Bola Tinubu has conferred national honours on all members of the D’Tigress for winning the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket.
The president also pledged $100,000 to each of the players and an additional $50,000 to members of the technical crew.
This was announced when President Bola Tinubu hosted the team on Monday evening following the team’s unprecedented fifth consecutive #AfroBasketWomen victory.
RHE BUREAU NEWS reported that the reigning African champions defeated Mali 78–64 in a final performance at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan on Sunday night.
With the victory, D’Tigress became the first team in Africa to win the AfroBasket championship five times in a row.
The triumph also brings their total AfroBasket titles to seven.
They have dominated African women’s basketball, winning their 29th consecutive game without a single loss since 2015.
