Popular Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has tendered a public apology to his wife, Natasha Idibia, their children, and fans after facing heavy criticism over a controversial remark about men and monogamy.
The Afro-pop star ignited backlash after a podcast interview in which he suggested that while a man can genuinely love a woman, he is not biologically designed to stay sexually committed to only one partner. His comment triggered a storm on social media, with critics accusing the veteran singer of promoting infidelity and disrespecting the institution of marriage.
Following the uproar, 2Baba took to his official social media accounts to express deep regret for the statement, describing it as “careless and insensitive.”
“I was careless with my words, and I take full responsibility for the pain it caused,” he wrote.
He admitted that the comment hurt not only his wife and family but also disappointed many of his loyal supporters across Nigeria and beyond.
2Baba also emphasized his commitment to learning and personal growth, pledging to become a better man, husband, and father.
“I’ve always believed in love and commitment, and I understand that my actions and words carry weight. I’m truly sorry,” he added.
The apology comes amid renewed conversations on social media about the role of public figures in shaping societal values, especially regarding marriage and family life.
